About
A community for Korean-American engineers and scientists at Illinois.
Founded in 2019 as the UIUC chapter of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association — bridging heritage and engineering in one of the largest engineering schools in the country.
Our mission
Three teams, one chapter.
We are the UIUC chapter of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association — a community for Korean-American engineers, scientists, and researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Our work is split across three teams: an academic team that helps members navigate engineering coursework and the job market, an event team that builds friendships across class years and majors, and an accounting team that keeps the chapter funded and accountable.
We are open to anyone who shares the mission — Korean heritage is the chapter's anchor, not its gate.
What we care about
Values
Community first
Mentorship, study groups, and small dinners — the things that make engineering school feel less lonely.
Career-focused
Resume critique, mock interviews, and an alumni network across the Midwest and Bay Area.
Bridge generations
We connect undergraduates with grad students, alumni, and Korean-American professionals working at every stage of the engineering pipeline.
How we organize
Academic, Event, Accounting.
The exec board splits work across three teams, with the Treasurer leading Accounting and keeping the chapter funded and accountable.
Academic
Workshops, study groups, course-recommendation guides, and the alumni mentorship program.
Event
Socials, GBMs, summer orientation for incoming students, and external partnerships with KESS, HKN, and other UIUC engineering RSOs.
Accounting
Chapter budget, fundraisers, reimbursements, and sponsorship logistics — led by the Treasurer, who keeps the books open to the board.
